National Dog Day - My Therapy Dog and Pal, Jade

I'm a day late as yesterday was National Dog Day. Jade is our family pet and a therapy dog that my Little Listeners love to hear follow auditory commands such as roll over, shake.... When Jade comes to AVT, the kids give her directions to follow. Jade has been an amazing comfort to some adults who have been nervous or anxious during Adult AR post cochlear implantation. Life is better with a dog.

Sound Success in Vietnam - 2015 Summer Training Program Highlights and Video

Dear Friends -- I am so pleased to share with you our newest video straight out of Vietnam which includes interviews with select families and professionals who have benefited from our Vietnam Program over the past five years. Their words of gratitude and progress are a testament to the incredible support that you have lent to our efforts. Below are some highlights from the experience.  Thank you for helping us to realize our vision that children with hearing loss can reach their full potential -- no matter where in the world they live. I hope you and your family enjoyed a wonderful summer and are looking forward to exciting new endeavors this Fall.  Warm regards, Paige Stringer Founder / Executive Director Global Foundation Video -- Sound Success in Vietnam 2015 Summer Training Program Highlights Fifty Vietnamese therapists, teachers, and audiology technicians traveled to Thuan An Center, Vietnam from schools, clinics, and centers across the country to take part in our Summer Training Program. This advanced group of participants continued their professional development in pediatric audiology, auditory-verbal practice, and early intervention.  More than 70 families with children under 6 years of age joined in the practical teaching experience.   One special moment among many came when we provided a 17 month old with her first-ever pair of hearing aids, thanks to our partners at Hear the World Foundation. We captured this sweet video clip of her in the sound booth moments after she received her new hearing aids. This little girl and her family will receive ongoing audiology and early intervention support from Vietnamese professionals we have trained through our program to help her learn to listen and talk. This is just another example of how our focus on building local capacity is enabling the Vietnamese to take care of their own.   Please visit the Global Foundation blog for more information and stories from Vietnam.
